GeoDNS
Let our geographically distributed Anycast DNS servers serve the right address to direct local customers to your web servers at the edge.GeoPeer
Establish public or private peering with us in several of our locations. Let us terminate your traffic and direct users to a healthy server near them.GeoHost
Deploy your site in multiple locations within our network, with the confidence that local visitors always end up on the fastest endpoint for them. What is Anycast DNS?
Instead of answering queries for your domain name from one single location — which could mean receiving and responding to requests over an entire ocean — we answer DNS requests close to where they are made.
We can do this by deploying multiple DNS servers in multiple locations, but all with the same IP addresses. We advertise these locations at Internet Exchanges and with multiple ISPs. This ensures that when a query lands on our servers it hasn't travelled far and our reply will be similarly low-latency.
Is that ... good?
In the pursuit of a fast website or application: yes. It's definitely a good thing to spend fewer milliseconds when someone first visits your domain, but if all you're doing is telling them to send their HTTP traffic to your server in a far-off destination, it's probably not worth it.
That's why we let you cater the response that you send to the geography that the request came from. Send your Canadian visitors to Toronto nodes. Europeans to your Frankfurt servers. Britons to your London location.
Our three products let you define business rules for whose traffic is sent where.
They all sound the same, what are the differences?
Glad you asked! With GeoDNS we will return custom A and AAAA records based on your self-managed business rules. This is perfect if you already host your application in multiple locations and just want us to route requests to the right place. You tell us the IP addresses (or give us a DNS name to periodically resolve) and we'll send your customers directly to you.
GeoPeer is the next level of involvement. You can establish a VPN with us or peer at a public exchange and we will terminate your traffic on our IPs, before proxying the results over our internal network. Once again, you have control over the business rules deciding what traffic goes where — with the addition of being able to make these decisions based on HTTP headers and browser meta-data†.
And if you just want a single provider to make your application fast everywhere, you can deploy your virtual machines directly on our infrastructure with GeoHost.
In every case you can make immediate changes to your infrastructure via our self-serve control panel and API. No Terraform providers or support requests neccessary.
† HTTP header-based rules require us to terminate TLS for your connections.
